Hiring foreign workers in Serbia: first steps

Employers outside the EU often start in Serbia. These are the questions we ask on the first call.

Licensed agency work

Agency employment in Serbia requires a ministry licence. UNIK HR GLOBAL operates under that framework when we employ or assign workers.

We do not advise working without permits. Each role needs a route that matches the worker's nationality and the job.

Documents employers provide

Company registration, tax compliance, workplace details, and a clear job description. We assemble the worker side: identity, qualifications, medical checks where required, and translations.

Missing employer papers delay every file. We send a numbered checklist so nothing is guessed.

Timeline expectations

Simple cases move faster than roles that need labour market tests or scarce licences. We give a written range after review, not a promise on the homepage.

Planning three to eight weeks before the start date is realistic for many files. Urgent needs may still be possible if documents are complete.
